"Leaders think and talk about the solutions. Followers think and talk about the problems."
A good leader is evident by the results from those they lead. There isn't a specific list of qualities that define exactly what a leader is, but we all know a good leader when we see one. Take a look at some of the leaders you've had in your life... chances are you performed better when you worked or competed with them. The made you want to succeed and rise to the occasion.
"A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be." -Rosalynn Carter
Leaders inspire and challenge us to do better... Leaders are always pushing things forward... either their business, organization, or team... but they do not focus on problems or setbacks, they are focused on the future and their goals and on ways to reach them. Good leaders can get amazing things done... but great leaders can inspire others to do amazing things... and when you have a leader that is creating victories in other people within their organization you will see some amazing things. In any team, group, company, or organization that is being very successful you will find great leaders. Weather it's a coach making the right call, a team captain inspiring his team-mates, a boss giving his employees the freedom to create solutions, or a CEO creating solutions that move the business forward... leaders create success.
"Lead by inspiration, not intimidation." -Rebecca Aguilar
If you want to be a leader then take a look at what motivates and inspires those around you and feed that. Learn how to focus on the positive and always be pushing toward the future. Empower people to be the best they can be... THAT is what it takes to be a great leader.
